| The Orangutan spends most of its life in trees, searching for its favorite foods, figs, mangoes, and other fruits. It eats other plant parts, as well (leaves, bark, flowers), and insects and possibly even eggs. The Orangutan feeds during the day and then builds itself a temporary nest high in a tree to bed down for the night. It has become seriously endangered over the years, as its favored forest habitat has been logged. The few numbers left are constantly in danger of poachers, people who illegally capture the animals to sell to zoos. |
